Power consumption in China dipped 1.3% in July. I think GDP growth is not 7%, but more like 2%.

There is some hope for China, I hope it will continue. Because our last stock screener pick Xinyuan Real Estate (XIN) isn’t doing so well as it just release 1Q earnings that were down compared to last year. Still hoping that China’s real estate market will recover this year.

China is still slowing down. March power consumption fell 2.2% yoy, which validates a lower GDP growth. I guess China is growing at maximum 5%.

Commodities Will Be Hit By China Slowdown
I have bad news for commodity fans. China is indeed slowing down as power consumption has reached sub-zero year over year growth in August 2014. This means that China GDP growth will be sub 6% as the correlation suggests on chart 2.

China’s March power consumption was up year over year, but not by much: 7.5%.
It is right in line with the 7.5% year over year GDP growth rate. So the days when china grew more than 10% are over for now.
